If you are a Renter...
There are five things you should decide upon before starting to look for a Fire Island rental

Dates of your stay
Community of choice
Budget
Number of Bedrooms
Number of baths

The peak rental season on Fire Island is July and August. Weekly rents in the communities of Fair Harbor, Saltaire, Dunewood, Kismet and Lonelyville range from $2500 per week for a basic three bedroom, one bath cottage to $7,500 per week for a high end ocean front house. August rentals are generally higher than rents in July.

Most Fire Island houses are rented in July and August for a minimum of two weeks at a time. There are weekly rentals available in all communities but there are more houses to choose from if you want to stay on Fire Island for a minimum of two weeks during July and August.

Seasonal rents, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, range from $21,000 to $50,000.

The off season, before Memorial Day and after Labor Day, are beautiful times on Fire Island. More and more renters are discovering the beauty of the off season. The summer crowds are gone and rents are lower. There is no prettier month to be on Fire Island than in September or October. Winter rentals are also available.

Most houses will have everything you need for your vacation. The only thing you should have to bring over to Fire Island with you will be your clothes.

There are grocery markets on Fire Island but most renters choose to bring some grocery items with them. Many items may be shipped over on the Ferry to be picked up once you arrive. Renters should check with the Fire Island Ferries before having things sent over to the beach.

Fire Island Living Real Estate is the only real estate company on the west end of Fire Island with rental houses in every west end community including Fair Harbor, Saltaire, Dunewood, Lonelyville and Kismet.
